The one year intensive programme gives students a blend of technical and creative learning with various explicit skills. Students undergo a sound learning on technical aspects of photography ranging from using various formats of digital technology in photography, lighting techniques, fundamentals of photography & editing for photography using high end professional equipment and resources.

The programme allows students to explore their visual communication skills and creative thinking and communicate them through images. Higher emphasis is given on developing the creative ability and fuses individuality and helps each student develop a signature style towards their work. Students explore various projects across fashion, commercial and editorial photography taught by practicing photographers. Students often receive opportunities to work in a professional environment with continuous support during and on completion of the course.

Learning will include how to gather research producing professional mood boards to an advanced level, illustrating ideas to pitch for publications, brands and emerging designer photoshoots working to a professional brief. The training informs students on industry protocols and students learn how to engage with industry experts – fashion editors, model bookers, agents, production companies and commercial clients. Through a series of studio based masterclasses, students gain and expand technical skill in studio and location work focusing on the art of light and composition. The photoshoot element of the course is executed at industry level working with model agencies, and industry based hair and makeup teams who are familiar with working on fashion editorials in London and internationally. You will work across multi location, street-based and studio environments to master commercial and creative technique working with both natural and artificial light. Resulting fashion stories will be submitted for publication on-line and in print to reputable magazines and industry partners. The photoshop element of the course equips students with the professional editing skills to re-touch own imagery. Students will learn how to curate their own portfolio for prospective industry clients and how to edit y imagery shot on the course. Master guest speakers include motivational and named fashion photographers for inspiration, guidance, networking, personal development and working opportunity.

Further students experience various outdoor shoots, explore live assignments and eventually get opportunities to work under leading photographers as part of the programme. At the end of the year students present their works to the industry at the FAD Emerging Talents Show and further understand the commercial aspects of the industry prior to stepping onto the highly exciting and inspiring industry.
