Drawing inspiration from Spanish artist Salvator Dali's iconic art techniques alongside surrealism, FAD Talents style an editorial shoot.
Fashion editorial projects are an integral part of the course curriculum at FAD, serving as a dynamic and multifaceted learning experience that prepares students for the competitive, creative and collaborative nature of the fashion industry.
As a part of the graduation project, the Fashion Styling students of FAD Mumbai, conceptualized a fashion editorial ‘The Life Imitates Art’ under the mentorship of Andy Barve, Head Of Styling - FAD and Victoria Krundysheva, Head Of Photography - FAD.
Drawing inspiration from the renowned Spanish artist Salvator Dali's iconic art techniques alongside surrealism, ‘The Life Imitates Art’, is a whimsical play of contemporary as well as avant garde silhouettes like contoured dress, striped midi, floral high slit gown, quilted overcoat , oversized shoulder jacket and more drenched in diverse hues, varying shapes, eccentric textures, quirky prints and patterns that come together, creating an imaginary space where art imitates life or vice versa.
The hair and makeup was a neo-modern take on classic elements such as assortment of hair pins and updos, both enhancing the eccentricity of the concept. In addition, use of illusory backdrops along with oversized props like, chairs, flowers, metal face masks, fisheye lens made the imagery more interconnected with the concept.
Editorial projects like the above are significant for the students to channel their creativity as per the industry standards.
