COURSE OVERVIEW
The three-year Undergraduate program in Fashion Design is meticulously crafted to provide students with a rich learning experience that spans from foundational principles to advanced professional expertise. Through a blend of structured guidance and hands-on studio learning, the curriculum aims to develop the creative, technical, and professional skills essential for success in the global fashion design industry.
This program caters to individuals who aspire to excel in various aspects of fashion design, encompassing disciplines such as pattern making, fashion illustration, and the utilization of cutting-edge software like CLO3D. In the first year, students establish a solid groundwork in fashion fundamentals, mastering techniques such as pattern making and fashion illustration, while also familiarizing themselves with industry-standard software tools. As students progress to the second year, they delve deeper into advanced techniques such as garment construction and couture craftsmanship, refining their skills and preparing for real-world application. This phase includes intensive training in pattern drafting, garment assembly, and the intricate art of couture.
Upon completing two years of immersive learning and receiving personalized career guidance from seasoned mentors, students enter their third year with the opportunity to specialize further. They are presented with various options, including pursuing a Bachelors Degree (equivalent to the 4-year B.Des degree in India) from participating universities in the UK. Alternatively, they may opt to continue their learning in India with specialization in advanced techniques like couture or garment construction, or choose to continue their studies while engaging in internships with prestigious fashion houses and design studios.
Moreover, the students are given exposure to international fashion shows, such as London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Week, and others. Witnessing firsthand the creativity, innovation, and diversity showcased on these prestigious platforms provides invaluable inspiration and insight into the ever-evolving landscape of the fashion industry, preparing students to navigate and contribute to its dynamic trajectory.
Opportunities like the FAD Europe tour and year abroad programs broaden students' perspectives. The FAD Europe tour immerses students in Europe's fashion capitals, offering exposure to iconic landmarks, design studios, and industry events. Year abroad programs enable exploration of global fashion markets, fostering cross-cultural understanding and expanding professional networks. These experiences enhance technical skills and develop a nuanced understanding of the global fashion ecosystem, preparing students for success in an interconnected industry.
